NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is an integral part of the NHS, collecting and processing 2 million blood donations a year. Our Healthcare Scientists provide crucial support to NHS Hospitals, processing, testing and issuing blood and its components and delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services relating to the transfusion of blood and stem cells, transplantation and tissue banking.
The Microbiology Services Laboratory provides a centralised and diverse microbiology, virology, and serology service that is essential to the operation of NHSBT. This vacancy is based in the Microbiology Services Laboratory – Virology which is a specialist laboratory responsible for the confirmation of microbiological screen reactivity in samples from blood, tissue and stem cell donors. MSL-Virology also performs some specialist non-blood donor screening (tissue, stem cell and organ donors), the lot release testing of microbiological assays, and provides expert advice and guidance.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in handling blood samples. Candidates should be comfortable with using a pipette, and have experience with in-putting information onto a computer system such as a database or a LIMS.

This post is eligible for London outer higher cost supplement of 15% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £3,784 and a maximum payment of £4,822 pro rata
