Are you a registered Child, Adult or Mental Health Nurse or registered midwife? Do you have the ambition to become a Health Visitor?


We are looking for NMC qualified nurses or midwives to join a well-established Community Health Nurse (CHN) Team within the Health Visiting Service. As a qualified nurse or midwife, you will be part of a specially developed 12-week training and competency programme with skilled support and guidance from our Health Visitors and experienced CHN’s. You will also be assigned a Practice supervisor/practice assessor to guide and support you, coordinating and enabling a successful transfer of existing skills and knowledge, whilst also learning new ones necessary to become a competent, autonomous community health nurse.

As a qualified nurse/midwife, you will be fully trained to deliver the Universal offer; pre-birth to 5 years of The Healthy Child Programme (2009). This is an evidence-based approach that makes a real difference to children’s lives during their most important years.

As a Community Health Nurse role, you will also be part of a new and innovative approach, supporting the Health Visitors to deliver Early Help and Prevention, working alongside multi agency and Local Authority colleagues, to improve outcomes for children and their families.

As a Community health nurse your training and experience during the fixed 2-year contract will provide a solid foundation and opportunity to progress to SCPHN Health Visitor training at BSc or MSc’s level in partnership with University. This will be subject to your progress, completion of community health nurse competencies, course availability and a successful application process.
