Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) provides a range of community health, mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages. Delivered through over 100 settings from inpatient wards to out in the community, our 6,500 staff serves over 1 million people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

To support our exciting expansion plans we are currently looking for experienced Practitioners with a minimum of two years’ experience as either qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioners, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners or Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners for our Mental Health Support Teams in Schools (MHST) programme, providing support to Children and Families across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

We are looking for experienced Practitioners who can bring energy and commitment to this service. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload. You will be skilled in delivering low intensity therapy to children and young people and will have successfully completed an approved IAPT PWP, EMHP or CWP Post Graduate Certificate. You will work alongside other Clinicians, Senior Clinicians, and EMHPs in providing real early intervention, delivering a range of NICE approved low intensity support. You will play a key role for the MHST team. The kind of work that means young people can access you quickly, locally and in places they feel comfortable in.

Each designated MHST supports a population of up to 8,000 children and young people and will be responsible for a cluster of around 20 schools and colleges.

We are developing three new teams, delivering support in Leicester and Leicestershire South.

Key areas of work will be;

  • Supporting the senior Mental Health Lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach

  • Responsible for liaising directly with schools, developing and co-producing materials for evidence-based interventions and presentations

  • Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education

  • Supporting the EMHPs in delivering high-quality CBT interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in and around schools, through clinical and managerial supervision.

  • Holding a clinical caseload and be actively involved in delivering universal and targeted group interventions in schools. These interventions will be CBT based, your experience as a PWP, EMHP or CWP will be invaluable in developing and delivery of individual and group CBT interventions to young people and parents

  • Supporting the continued development of the team and service

Ideally having already completed the Low Intensity Supervisor Training you will be responsible for the caseload management & supervision of EMHPs. Those who have not undertaken the Post-Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Supervision will be supported through completion of this course. It is12 months in duration and will consist of academic and supervised practice learning

As well as your qualification you’ll have experience of or completed additional training in child and adolescent mental health and be committed to basing your practice in trauma-informed care, underpinned by a good understanding of adverse childhood experiences.
