It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Role Summary

The MDT/Planning Coordinator role is pivot to the cardiology and surgery directorate in delivering non elective clinical services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable person with the ability to use their initiative in order to support the patient’s clinical pathway. You will join a small team of existing MDT/Planning Coordinators.

MDT Co-coordinator is responsible for collating the necessary information for each patient to be presented and discussed on the agenda. The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients' pathways of care, working alongside consultants and other disciplines of clinical staff.

Once training is completed, use specialist knowledge of the patient pathway to proactively influence the tracking records using high levels of communication to expedite appointments/procedures as necessary and to resolve issues which could lead to target failures.

You will have a good understanding of the NHS, proven office skills, excellent organisational skills and be able to interact with people at all levels both internally and externally.

The work is full of challenges as well as being exciting and rewarding. You will need to show experience, confidentiality to work autonomously, and the ability to adapt to change while managing and prioritising a heavy workload, in a fast developing environment, is essential.

While previous experience or knowledge of ACS, IHU and EP is desirable, this is not essential as a local induction and full training will be provided.

Training/experience

When you start you’ll receive a documented training programme for you to feel supported in the role with opportunities to regularly review your progress with your mentor. We feel it is important for newly appointed staff members to have the ability to review their progress.
