This is an exciting position in a brand new team for Solent NHS Trust. The Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) legislation is due to be launched with the changes to the Mental Capacity Act. This is likely to be in 2023.

The team will look at leading these changes and looking at implementing at the training and supporting of Solent staff with regard to the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act (where appropriate). Once the legislation is introduced the LPS team will also be undertaking Mental Capacity assessments in ward environments for mental health, and physical health, across Solent NHS Trust.

The team will also continue to support and champion people's knowledge of the mental Capacity Act. Supporting in-patient and community teams.

As the Team leader, you will be confident with you knowledge of the legisaltion and support your colleagues, acting as a point of information for staff.

In return for your skills, we will offer regular supervision, development opportunities and internal and external training.

You will need to have good knowledge of Mental health law and be qualified as, or working to becoming, a Best Interest Assessor.
