Employer:
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
Location:
Trust wide (to be agreed)
Salary:

It is a really exciting time to be involved in the field of Patient Safety, with the advent of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and resultant new ways of working. We are now looking for an exceptional candidate to join our established team.  The successful candidate will be a registered clinician and able to utilise their clinical knowledge and skills in the role of Quality Lead (QL).

The successful candidate will be required to analyse clinical incidents, using appropriate investigative approaches, to produce a fair, robust and thorough review of the clinical care provided to a patient.  The QL completes high level investigations, producing quality investigation reports and presenting their findings to the RLI Review meetings. Amongst many other duties the QL also undertakes Coroner and clinical negligence claim reviews, presenting findings to Inquests or Court if required as well as reviewing Adverse Incidents to identify potential patient safety incidents.

Due to the nature of the role, exceptional communication skills

are required as interaction with patients, families, staff and external stakeholders is required alongside an ability to demonstrate empathy in all interactions.

The QL takes line management responsibility for the clinical Assistant Quality Leads and Investigating Officers and as such you will be responsible for your own workload and the distribution and monitoring of the work the Assistant Quality Leads and Investigating Officers produce. Therefore you will need to be extremely organised, able to prioritise, multi task and work to unyielding deadlines.

This is an extremely demanding yet fulfilling role which requires a very resilient and confident registered clinician with an analytical mind who can work independently.  We can offer an extremely supportive and proactive team, working flexibly over 37.5 hours a week across the Trust.  Although currently working remotely, this is under constant review so the successful candidate must expect to work from a Trust site (base to be negotiated).

Successful candidates must be available to attend an investigative techniques training course if they don’t already hold an Root Cause Analysis qualification
