Mental Health and Learning Disabilities

Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Psychological Therapist – Community Mental Health Team (Adults)

Band 7

Full time Permanent Position available or 2 part time positions

This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a Psychological Therapists/ Clinical Psychologists/ Counselling Psychologists to join our expanding Community Mental Health Service (CMHS). The CMHS is a recovery focused multi-disciplinary service comprising of Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals, Psychological Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, Support Workers, Peer Support Work and Psychiatry. All team members contribute to our recovery focused approach.

The post holders will provide high-quality psychological therapy to people who are referred to the Community Mental Health Service (CMHS) to alleviate their distress and improve quality of life, and assist colleagues across the whole CMHS in the support of people with complex mental health needs where appropriate.

You will be trained in at least one therapeutic modality such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), specific to various conditions including CBT for psychosis, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), EMDR and have an enthusiasm for working with Complex Trauma and a desire for further training.

There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to be offered band 7, Annexe 21 (NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook) applied salary with the expectation that through additional and planned training they will be equipped with the skills and experience to meet the job description.

You will offer advice and consultation on psychological care to other MDT colleagues, as well as to other non-professional carers and workers of other agencies where appropriate. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team and Trust’s policies and procedures

Supervision is a priority and Psychological Therapists are supported with excellent supervision and training opportunities. There will also be opportunities to share your skills and expertise with other team members and provide supervision as appropriate, which is greatly valued by the wider team.

The Isle of Wight is located off the south coast of England and has a population of approx. 140,000. It has much to offer in the way of outdoor leisure pursuits, family living and is also home to numerous music festivals throughout the summer months. It is a beautiful place to live and relax after work. Connections to the mainland are frequent, fast and efficient, with a choice of crossings via Red Funnel, Wightlink or Hovercraft from Southampton, Southsea, Lymington or Portsmouth, all of which are 90 minutes by rail from London.
