We are looking to recruit maternity leave cover for a Band 8b Clinical Psychologist to work in the Andover and Winchester OPMH CMHTs with a wider role and responsibilities in the Mid & North Division of Southern Health Foundation Trust.  The successful candidate will be based at Andover War Memorial Hospital, Andover, Hampshire. The service provides care to older people with mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, personality disorder and psychosis, as well as for people with dementia and their carers. 

The role is to provide a high level of expertise within OPMH in the Division and particularly the Andover & Winchester OPMH CMHTs.  The post-holder will take clinical leadership responsibility in the co-ordination and implementation of psychological care and ensure the systematic provision of a high quality specialist psychological therapies service for patients and their families/carers, with the emphasis on coproduction.  They will support the introduction and dissemination of Comprehend Cope & Connect (CCC) for those with complex psychological problems and the Newcastle Model to formulate the needs of those with organic conditions.  This includes the provision and development of a neuropsychological assessment service to support the work of the Memory Assessment Service. 

The role will also involve providing highly specialist psychological assessments and intervention strategies including specialist neuropsychological assessment. A crucial aspect is the provision of clinical leadership, training and consultation to the OPMH clinical team who provide psychologically based care and treatment whilst also supporting the professional development of the psychological services staff including trainees on placement, ensuring appropriate supervision and governance of psychological therapies, particularly with the new Clinical Associate in Psychology roles which we are developing starting in September 2021. A prime aim is to enhance the psychological mindedness of the multi professional team and promote the delivery of evidenced based psychological practice.

The Mid and North Area covers the towns and countryside of North Hampshire surrounding Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke and Alton. Our inpatient mental health services are centred at Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke which has 6 wards of which 2 are OPMH wards. Our CMHTs services are based in Winchester, Andover and Basingstoke, working alongside 10 primary care network mental health teams. We have adult and older adult CMHTs which are needs led. The older adult teams also includes Memory Assessment Service and Care Home In-reach.

There are currently 5 other Clinical Psychologists working with older people in the Trust.  Regular clinical supervision will be provided and we also meet monthly as a group for neuropsychological supervision. There are close working relationships with Adult Mental Health Services and the University of Southampton, which is the base for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Course. There are opportunities to be involved in teaching Trainee Clinical Psychologists and for collaboration with other professionals and academic staff and participation in research.

Please note candidates need to be qualified clinical psychologists (or about to qualify) and registered with the Health Care Professions Council or clearly state on their application how they are planning to achieve this registration.
