An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse to join our Bank Nursing Team to support Special School Nursing teams in the Southampton area. The Special School Nursing Service works collaboratively with children and young people (CYP), families, carers, schools and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure their health needs are met both at home and in the school environment.

The nurse will be responsible for providing clinical skills and ensuring a holistic, family centered approach to assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the health needs of the children. This opportunity will provide excellent experience of working with children within the special school environment. The role will include assessment and management of both short term and long term conditions, working with children who have complex conditions and disabilities including those requiring continuing care and life limiting/threatening conditions, palliative and end of life care, teaching/training, representing at meetings, epilepsy management, enteral feeding and tracheostomy care.

If you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work as a team player, as well as the initiative to work autonomously, we would like to hear from you. You should have good organisational skills and evidence of continued professional development.

The candidate must hold a registration in either Children’s Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing or Adult Nursing with recent, relevant, transferable experience. Previous experience of working in schools or community nursing would be desirable.

As a member of our bank nursing team you will support the Special School Nursing team to meet the health and nursing needs of the CYP in the school. A full local induction will be provided alongside training in specific clinical skills required for the role.
