Physiotherapist - Band 6

MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy - South Wiltshire

Full and Part Time Opportunities Available - Permanent

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our growing department as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist as a band 6 Physiotherapist. We have full-time, part-time and bank contract opportunities.

Our service is well respected, and we have developed strong relationships with local GP practices, Orthopaedic and Rheumatology consultants, midwives as well as other healthcare professionals. Patients are able to self refer to our service and we have a growing number of First Contact Physiotherapists (FCP), within the GP practices, who refer also patients to us.

You would be joining a uniquely friendly and supportive team of over 20 full and part time clinicians including Physiotherapists, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APP), Physiotherapy Assistants and Administrative staff.

Learning and personal development is strongly encouraged and supported. Our well-organised In-Service Training program includes monthly departmental IST, 1:1 supervision, journal club, and subsidised places on external courses. In addition, peer support and watched assessments are actively encouraged in order to boost patient care and facilitate learning. Our Clinical Specialists and our Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners are easily accessible for support with patient assessment and management as required.

We have computer-based notes, and benefit from shared patient records with the GP’s and other healthcare professionals. We have adopted some virtual clinics allowing more flexibility and accessibility for patients.

Successful candidates could be based in our busy Outpatient Department at 5 Rivers Leisure Centre , Wilton Health Centre, or our Healthcare Centre at Amesbury or possibly a combination of these. We also work in a number of GP practices in the south and we are part of a Wiltshire-wide network of physiotherapists allowing opportunities to work, or transfer to one of our other physiotherapy departments if desired.

We always accommodate working hours to enable a good work/life balance, where able, and there is currently no on-call rota or weekend working.

Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of MSK Physiotherapy. They must have a flexible, adaptable and innovative approach to their work. Suitable candidates will have experience of working in an MSK setting and should be able to provide evidence of CPD activity relevant to this speciality.

On joining our team, the successful candidate will build up an interesting and varied musculoskeletal and orthopaedic caseload. Depending on your experience and clinical interest you will have the opportunity to be involved in other specialities such as hydrotherapy, hand therapy, antenatal and amputees. You will be given responsibilities and training that reflect your current level of practice and then encouraged to manage a larger, more complex caseload as your skills are tested and improve over time. We run a variety of classes, which you may choose to be involved in. These classes include: Escape Pain, Upper Limb, Lower Limb, Total Knee Replacement, Hydrotherapy, Hand, Antenatal, Amputee, Back and Activate Your Back.

In order to fulfil future career aspirations and invest in the long-term proficiencies of our staff we are developing more advanced career pathways in GP practices and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner clinics. We are also creating secondment opportunities in Acute/Specialist hospital settings and Community Teams.

The MSK service for Wiltshire is based in 11 sites and additional GP clinics with excellent links to our acute hospitals in Bath, Swindon as well as Salisbury.
