British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) is the UK’s largest independent women’s reproductive healthcare charity. We work mainly on behalf of the NHS across the country providing abortion, contraception, STI testing & treatment. Soon we are launching BPAS Fertility. We specialise in evidence-based, not-for-profit care.

BPAS Fertility are looking to appoint a doctor to join our assisted conception service at our London clinic

About BPAS Fertility:

BPAS Fertility consists of a hub unit in London where the embryology and andrology labs are located and 2 satellite units in Peterborough and Swindon where Nurse/Midwife Practitioners carry out consultations, ultrasound scans and cycle management. In the hub, a team of nurses, midwives, doctors, embryologists, administrators and counsellors collaboratively provide not-for-profit, patient-centred, evidence-based fertility treatments including IVF, ICSI, frozen embryo cycles, fertility preservation and intra uterine inseminations for a whole range of patients.

The role:

As a Speciality Doctor in Assisted Conception you will undertake patient consultations, cycle monitoring using transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound scanning, egg collections and embryo transfers.

Other duties include:

  • To be responsible for Egg collections and Embryo transfers, liaising with the patients when they attend the clinic so that they have a clear understanding of what is being carried out.
  • To ensure that all necessary drugs are correct and in date, and equipment is functioning correctly before commencing the procedure.
  • To complete patient consultation and pre-treatment assessment if needed, ensuring that patient’s questions are fully answered, and they understand the procedure.
  • To undertake Scanning for cycle monitoring.

About you:

We are looking for someone who has experience of working within an assisted conception unit as well as knowledge in the assessment and management of complications, management of infertility and assisted reproduction techniques and identification of medical and other conditions which may affect treatment.

The successful candidate will have full General Medical Council Registration with a Bachelor of Medicine.

Salary: Competitive - negotiable depending on experience

Hours: Part time or full-time hours will be considered. Please state your preference on your application form.

There is a requirement for the successful candidate to be part of an on call rota (1 in 4 weeks) this will attract extra renumeration.
