Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS community, mental health, dementia and learning disability services to approximately 450,000 adults and children living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Most of our services are based in local communities, enabling care to be provided as close as possible to where people live. Our quality achievements are underpinned by a strong track record of successful service and financial delivery. Rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission we have wonderful staff whose drive and commitment is outstanding and unfailing during the most difficult circumstances.

As beautiful as Cornwall is, we face significant challenges: 140,000 of us live with long term conditions, 25% of us are over 65 and the disparity in health outcomes is widening. We are focused on finding opportunities alongside our partners in the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System (ICS) for new ways of working to deliver excellent care.

We are looking to appoint a Non Executive Director (NED) to our Unitary Board. Our NEDs provide active leadership of the Trust in ensuring quality and safety of services, that the Trust establishes a clear strategic direction, meets its legal liabilities, public and regulatory accountabilities, helps to shape and actively support a healthy culture, upholds the values of the Trust, ensures that the Trust promotes equality and diversity for all its patients, staff and other stakeholders, and ensures that processes and procedures are in place to deliver high standards of professional, clinical, administrative, and personal behaviours across the Trust.

It is important that our Board represents the community it serves and candidates should live in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, or have strong connections to the area. We actively want to encourage diversity in background and thinking, as well as resonance with the services we provide. Previous experience as a NED is not required and we are keen to hear from people with Senior Commercial, People or Finance expertise gained at a strategic level within a complex and highly regulated organisation. Most importantly you will share our values and have the vision, independence of judgement and commitment to help deliver the highest quality healthcare possible for our communities.

On average this role will require a time commitment of 5/6 days per month.

Closing date 21st March 2022
Stakeholder engagement and interviews 1st April 2022
