Founded as a tuberculosis colony in 1918, Royal Papworth Hospital has established an international reputation for excellence in research and innovation. Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Executive Assistant to the Director of Strategic Projects

Now is an excellent time to consider a career move to Royal Papworth Hospital. We have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant to join our small team.

The Director of Strategic Projects has a wide ranging and exciting portfolio and therefore requires a dynamic individual who will provide support to the Director, the wider projects team as the other members of our Board.

You will have excellent communication skills together with exceptional organisational and administrative abilities. Responsibilities will include diary management, servicing of Board level committees which will include ensuring meetings are efficiently organised, minuted and facilitating the effective flow of business between meetings. Efficient administrative support for the high-level projects undertaken by the Director and team, who lead on the development and implementation of a range of projects within the Trust. The team are currently focusing on the commissioning of the Heart and Lung Research Institute, the implementation of a system wide Cardiovascular Disease Strategy and the development of a Royal Papworth School.

This is a diverse and demanding role that requires high levels of confidentiality, an innate ability to prioritise under your own initiative, whilst having a flexible approach to the demands of this role whilst working closely with your EA colleagues to provide a professional support service to the Executive team.

Applicants must possess excellent secretarial and digital skills, a natural attention to detail, together with relevant experience of working for a Director/Senior Manager in a large organisation.
