We have an exciting opportunity to expand our multi-disciplinary team within HMP Dovegate. As part of this expansion, we are looking for a caring and compassionate Band 3 Health Care Support Worker at HMP Dovegate to join our professional, friendly and supportive team.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Mental Health & Substance Misuse (IMHSM) team consisting of Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Recovery Practitioners and Assistant Psychologists.

Assessments and interventions are offered in line with a stepped care model with a single point of access for prisoners experiencing mental health difficulties.

• We encounter a vast array of clinical presentations, from primary mental health needs of anxiety, low mood and adjustment to the custodial setting to severe and acute mental illness requiring intense, multi-agency support.
• We have an inpatient unit within the establishment where we accommodate patients with severe and acute presentations.
• Due to the age of our population, we have a lower threshold in place for supporting and monitoring our young men, due to the likelihood of encountering their first presentation of severe illness and supporting those transitioning from child into adult services.
• Working in the prison requires resilience and compassion as well as an insight into issues pertinent to young men within the custodial setting.
