In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Specialist Rotational Occupational Therapist

Do you want to work in a world-renowned hospital, where you can use your occupational therapy skills to truly treat patients holistically? Do you feel that your profession can offer so much more within an acute hospital setting?

If so, read on. Due to expansion of our department, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced occupational therapist to join us. At the Royal Papworth Hospital, we put patients at the centre of our practice and utilise our dual-training, to maximise their occupational performance. We offer a growing range of occupational therapy interventions, which covers both physical and mental health treatment approaches.

The occupational therapy department communicates regularly with the multi-disciplinary team and is involved in numerous quality improvements across the Trust in order to deliver excellent care to our patients, which is reflected in our Outstanding rating by the CQC in 2019.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated occupational therapist who would like to develop their clinical expertise and leadership skills within the following rotations:

  • Cardio-thoracic surgery
  • Heart and lung transplant
  • Critical care
  • Cardiology
  • Respiratory medicine

We are a creative and compassionate department, who will provide you with regular supervision, appraisal and opportunities to develop professionally through a full competency package and in-house training. In addition, you will be able to participate in service improvement initiatives to drive forward our ambitious vision for the department; to set a precedent for other cardiothoracic hospitals by bringing tomorrow’s treatments to today’s patients.

This post requires contribution to Bank Holiday and Saturday working. This post is advertised as full-time, however we will consider part-time applicants to job share.
