Strategic Development Lead – Primary Care

Solent NHS Trust have a new and exciting opportunity for a Strategic Development Lead to join their Primary Care Team.

Solent NHS hold an APMS General Practice contract for Hampshire and IOW CCG- running Solent GP Surgery as well as Homeless Healthcare GP Surgery in Southampton- comprising of a combined patient list size of ~21,500. The Primary Care Service within Solent NHS also includes musculoskeletal (including First Contact Practitioners), specialist musculoskeletal, pain and podiatry services across Southampton, Portsmouth and other areas in Southern Hampshire to a population of more than a million.

Reporting to the Clinical & Operations Directors of the Service Line, this role will lead the GP Surgery senior management team (comprising of the Practice Manager, Nursing and Quality Manager and GP Clinical Lead). They will also work closely with the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Primary Care to strategically develop and further integrate the wider Primary Care portfolio with the rest of the trust and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) within Southampton city and beyond.

The successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring the safe and effective provision of a modernised, financially balanced, patient focused service, whilst driving performance and seeking new business/ development opportunities for the Trust.

Knowledge of General Practice and Primary Care will therefore be a distinct advantage in this role. We would actively encourage applications from all individuals with primary care knowledge or practice management experience, who have working knowledge of the emerging PCN landscape and funding streams. Experience and confidence in partnership working will also be key- ensuring we further develop relationships with other Primary Care Networks and system partners or providers.

This is a real opportunity to help shape and grow the primary care service provision within Solent NHS Trust whilst providing direction to the GP Surgeries, driving business planning and developing strategy- ensuring that performance targets and strategic objectives are met.
