Charge Nurse/Ward Sister

The Older People’s Mental Health Inpatient Services based at the Western Community Hospital has 2 wards, Berrywood is our functional ward and Beaulieu is our organic ward.

We currently have vacancies on both our wards.

This is an exciting time for you to have input into how the role of a band 6 nurse can be pivotal in delivering high quality care to patients and carers. We care for patients from within the Southampton and Hampshire area, and you can expect a busy, rewarding role, with clear clinical leadership responsibilities. You will need to demonstrate a real commitment to providing high quality and compassionate care to patients and their families whilst they remain in hospital.

To be a successful member of our team you will need to be a Registered Health Care Professional with post registration experience, and have a genuine interest of working with older people. You will work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team including nurses, AHPs, doctors and clinical psychology to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients and their carers.

We are keen to support the development of our staff in a variety of ways, this will include competency based training, skill development and academic qualifications. We will support with robust supervision and reflective practice groups. We are keen to help you prepare for the next step in your career.

The Western Community Hospital is based just outside the centre of Southampton with free parking available.
