The Dental Radiology department at the Newcastle Dental Hospital are looking for a highly enthusiastic, skilled, and motivated radiographer, with significant dental experience and an interest in management, to provide strong clinical and operational leadership for our growing department. Working alongside the Clinical Lead Consultant, the post holder will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of a safe, effective, and efficient service for patients.

The service is a fast paced and clinically interesting but demanding department which will suit someone who is quick thinking, professional and dedicated to working as part of a strong clinical team. The successful applicant will be passionate about high standards of patient care, a team player with excellent communication, negotiating and teaching skills. In addition, they will have a keen interest in, and some experience of, service delivery and staff management skills.

Among their responsibilities the Superintendent Radiographer will take ownership of the operational management of the department, development and delivery of Quality Assurance processes and will lead on the continual improvement in service delivery. As part of the larger radiology management team, they will hold line management responsibilities for staff and will be required to work as an operational lead for the imaging department. As a large teaching hospital, the successful candidate will also work closely with colleagues in Newcastle University to facilitate undergraduate student training.

There is significant scope in the role for professional development, with the opportunity to work on exciting forthcoming and ongoing projects such as the implementation of digitalised systems, our new electronic patient record, procurement and installation of new equipment, roll out of new procedures and workforce changes as part of the wider Directorate management team.
