We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our dynamic, friendly and supportive Adult Community SLT team to work with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist with post-qualification dysphagia training and clinical dysphagia experience to provide a comprehensive, specialist clinical service to clients with communication and swallowing difficulties. The post holder will work with clients with a wide range of conditions including stroke, progressive neurological disorders, dementia, and learning difficulties. You will manage your caseload independently with support from senior Speech and Language Therapy colleagues. You will also be required to support student placements and to supervise junior colleagues.

The Solent (East) Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy team covers a wide geographical area that includes Portsmouth City, Fareham & Gosport and South East Hampshire, in both outpatient and domiciliary settings. Clinical care pathways are in place to support a client’s journey through the service, led by highly specialist SLTs with active contribution by all team members.

The successful candidate will be part of a supportive, motivated and professional team, able to work independently but with access to supervision from, and joint working with, senior colleagues. The department is committed to high quality, evidence-based interventions, using outcome measures to demonstrate clinical effectiveness. Completion of the RCSLT dysphagia competency framework with additional clinical experience is essential.
