Are you passionate about exercise and supporting people with long term conditions? An exciting opportunity has arisen within Community Respiratory in Portsmouth for an Exercise Instructor to work with our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team is a multi-professional team that provides combined exercise and education classes to patients with specific long-term respiratory conditions, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Bronchiectasis, Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs) and Asthma. The classes include muscle strengthening and cardiovascular exercises, to improve the symptoms associated, and education to improve knowledge on managing these conditions. Both these elements aim to improve quality of life.

The role of the Exercise Instructor will work as an active member of the team in supporting and leading patients during their time on our programme. They will have an indepth understand in the importance of exercise, with experience in leading group sessions, and knowledge of wider health advice for people living with a long term condition. The post holder will be an integrel part of the development of the Pulmonary Programme, keeping up to date with latest research and improvements in exercises in this clinical area.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation sessions are run in community locations across Portsmouth and Hampshire and therefore it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car.

Job Specific Location/Base: St Marys Hospital with travel to other sites across Hampshire
