Children’s Occupational Therapist – Band 6

Hours: Part time (minimum 22.5 hours) / Full time (37.5 hours)

Based at:The Whitehouse, Addlestone, Surrey covering the North East Surrey Boroughs of Spelthorne, Epsom and Ewell and Elmbridge.

Children and Family Health Surrey provides a dynamic and forward thinking community OT service, we are seeking to recruit to a post that will offer the opportunity to blend community and School Based practice, under the guidance of lead OTs who are directly involved with the RCOT & CYPF. Our service values skill development, continuing professional development as well as providing opportunities for all team members to have a direct contribution to shaping and developing the service that they provide. The post will have a strong emphasis on development and regular supervision will be made available as will the opportunity to attend in-service as well as external training. The service has a strong focus on leadership and mentoring and also promotes peer supervision at all levels of experience. Therapists at CSH Surrey are encouraged to develop a broad skill mix as well as being able to focus on areas of interest in practice, engage in projects that support development of service pathways and review the use of evidence in practice.

We welcome applications from qualified therapists with a Peadiactric background as well as those who are seeking a change of specialism, therefore experience of working with children is desirable but not essential.

This post will offer the successful candidates the opportunity to work alongside our supportive team of experienced therapists and assistants in providing a high quality occupation based provision to children aged 0-19 years,who have a variety of conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties.

The post holder will enjoy a varied caseload, practicing occupation-focused therapy in a wide range of community settings such as Schools & Nurseries, community health settings as well as home environments. OT practice at CSH is guided by providing a function-focused and strongly evidenced based practice that supports children and young people to engage with their necessary and chosen occupations with independence, dignity and success. Our service works in partnership with the local authority to ensure that Occupational Therapy provisions as part of the Education Health and Care Plans are delivered and managed effectively and efficiently. We share strong working relationships with our multi-disciplinary colleagues in Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy as well as Developmental Paediatricians, in addition to Educational Psychology and Early years services within Surrey County Council.


Due to the community nature of this post, candidates will need to be able to work independently, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
