An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work within a friendly and forward thinking CAMHS Team.

In CAMHS, there is often a high level of complexity in the children and young people we see. The role will involve offering assessments and specialist interventions to children and young people who have a range of presenting mental health needs. We are looking for an experienced clinical psychologist and welcome candidates who have a particular interest and range of skills in a number of areas, including trauma, neurodevelopmental and eating disorders.

This post has been developed to strengthen our psychological offer within CAMHS. Recent developments in the service include developing anxiety and low mood pathways, setting up and running a successful DBT programme, and developing a pathway of dedicated, highly skills clinicians to work with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders. We have a fully integrated eating disorder service for children and young people and current demand on the service has enabled clinicians from wider CAMHS to gain experience and develop specialist skills in this area. Attachment and Trauma interventions are an area of development within the service and the city, with opportunities for service development and leadership. The post holder will work as part of a larger group of trained clinical psychologists and those in training across a number of children and young people services in the city. Included in this is a number of assistant psychologists who are part of our CAMHS rotation programme.

As a band 8a there is an expectation the candidate will supervise other members of the wider psychology team as well as team members from other therapies and disciplines. As part of this role, the psychologist would be also facilitating a monthly restorative supervision for the community Children’s Nursing Team and Psychological supervision and Consultation sessions for the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP; Specialist Training provided).

We are looking for confident CAMHS professionals with a demonstrable track record of providing good quality evidence-based interventions, improving service quality with an interest in service development. This position calls for a professional with significant experience of working with children, young people and their families experiencing mental health difficulties. We are looking for a clinical psychologist who will share our passion to deliver the best quality care experience for children and their families. We are interested in supporting candidates developing their areas of particular interest where there is a strong service need. Experience of service development and leadership, alongside the right attitude, skills and knowledge are fundamental to this role.
