An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner Clinical Supervisor to join our team based at the Civic Offices in Portsmouth.

In line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the new Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) service is an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England.

Portsmouth CAMHS pride ourselves in fostering a collaborative approach to children’s social, emotional and mental health needs. We are grasping this opportunity to further improve the lives of our young people with this new service.

Whilst still in it’s infancy, we are looking for a proactive, innovative and dedicated candidate to join the team in delivering a sustainable and high quality service alongside the 3 locality based teams in place. The post holder would be qualified as an Education Mental Health Practitioner or PWP and gone on to complete the supervisor training.They willhave experienceof supervising EMHP's as well as offering low intesity interventions for children and young people with mental health presentations. They would offer supervision alongside therapeutic work, consultation, training and contributing to the whole school approach offer. The successful candidate will have an understanding of Portsmouth's diverse demographic and the needs of the city.

The post requires the holder as a member of a multi-disciplinary/multi agency team to maintain a shared caseload and provide direct clinical work that demonstrates a good level of specialist skill in treating the client system, where families have mild to moderate, multi-complex and often long-standing difficulties. All children and young people are seen in the context of their family or support network, requiring a whole range of interventions for straightforward to complex development and/or mental health needs. This will be delivered across the Portsmouth city in a variety of settings, predominantly within schools. They will be offering supervision, clinical skills and guidance to the EMHPs within the team, this may be between 4 and 8 EMHPs.

The candidate will value and promote a holistic and systemic approach to interagency working and be a calm, organised and creative member of the team. They will be passionate about children’s mental health, early intervention and promote an inclusive and supportive working environment.

We welcome candidates from a variety of professional backgrouds, including Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Systemic therapists, Registered Nurse, Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities etc.
