Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) has a number of new healthcare assistant positions available - perfect for gaining a broad range of specialist experience whilst being part of an outstanding team who are proud to provide high quality, patient-centred care.

The RVI is home to a number of national centres for excellence including Neurosciences, Ophthalmology and the Great North Major Trauma Centre all of which provide specialist care for patients from all over the Northern Region.

No two days are the ever same in our hospitals and those who thrive here enjoy working in ever-changing conditions, providing hands-on clinical and emotional care for high numbers of patients, supporting colleagues during demanding situations. This means you will need to be reliable, resilient and calm.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent direct care experience in a recognised healthcare environment
  • Standard IT skills
  • GCSEs in English and Maths at Grades 3-1 (or D-G or Level 1 Functional/Key Skills)
  • Clear and polite communication with members of the public and health care providers
  • A courteous, respectful and cooperative manner
  • Ability to work effectively both with and without supervision and with colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team

All successful candidates will be given support before working in the clinical area, by taking part in our mandatory Healthcare Academy programme.
