There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced band 5 or a band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Frailty Physiotherapy rotation in Portsmouth. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and dynamic physiotherapists to join our B6 frailty rotation here in Portsmouth. The rotation covers two organisations – Solent NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospital University Trust. Rotations are split over both employing organisations and include:

  • Urgent Care Therapy team – including the Frailty & Interface team and Frailty short stay unit
  • Acute Older Peoples Medicine Wards
  • Orthogeriatric hip fracture ward
  • Inpatient rehabilitation wards
  • Southsea discharge to asses Unit
  • Portsmouth Rehab and Reablement team – community team providing admission avoidance/supportive discharge from hospital
  • Community physiotherapy
  • Portsmouth Community assessment team – discharge hub/inreach

The clinical work requires the post holder to have a broad but in-depth knowledge of the types of conditions and needs typically experienced by older people along with expert skills in improving and maintaining function in the elderly. The ideal candidate will also have experience in supervision and training of others including students and have specialist skills in assessment and therapeutic interventions with older people.

Successful candidates will have a strong team work ethic, a sense of accountability accompanied by an ability to work under pressure at times.

In return we will provide the necessary support to ensure your development within the role and support our staff through a clear career pathway and encourage promotional opportunities. This support will occur through a mix of supervisions (clinical, management and safeguarding) provided by a Senior Physiotherapist, personal development plans and the candidates own active participation in supervision and education of others.

You will have the chance to enhance current service delivery and be involved in on-going service developments, including audits and reviews.

The service is covered over seven days and you will be required to work occasional weekends and early and late shift patterns.

You must be a car driver and owner with the relevant business insurance cover and be able to use your car for work.
