Band 8b Lead Nurse Ophthalmology

Imperial Ophthalmology services are primarily delivered across two sites; the Western Eye and Charing Cross hospital sites. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality and effective nursing services within the Ophthalmology directorate as part of the Surgery, Cancer & Cardiovascular Division and will take the lead responsibility for patient experience.

Through their own leadership style, the post holder will demonstrate and foster an open learning culture which values continuing professional development and strives for excellence in the delivery of patient care.

The post holder will be managerially responsible for a range of staff including identified Matrons, specialist nurses and where relevant other identified departmental staff and hold a delegated budget for these staff groups.

The Lead nurse will also contribute to the development of nursing services across the Trust through network working across the Clinical Directorates and will maintain strong professional links to the corporate nursing team.

You will have qualifications to a master’s degree or equivalent experience plus additional management training and CPD evidence. You must have experience of working at a senior management level in a complex organisation and have experience of budget management, staff management, managing competing workloads and experience of advising senior managers and external stakeholders.
