We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated and caring person to join our team with experience of working with children. Good communication and computer skills, and a flexible approach are essential.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to develop their skills within our Childrens service in Portsmouth City and East Hampshire. The post will primarily be working within our Speech and Language Therapy service but will also support our Occupational and Physiotherapy services.

This post will provide an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work and develop their skills in a community therapy role. The post involves working under the direction of designated therapists, providing clinical and administration support. The post will involve working directly with children and families during treatment sessions which will include communicating with families, writing clinical notes, liaising with other health and education and social services and assessing and ordering equipment.

The case load provides opportunities to work with children and young people aged 0 – 19 with communication, physical, learning and perceptual or sensory motor difficulties, in a range of settings, including early years, pre- school, mainstream and special schools.

Solent NHS trust is committed to working as an integrated team, within health, education, social care and others working with the child and family. We will offer you support to develop into the role through, regular clinical supervision and joint working, in-service training, regular management supervision linked to appraisals and identifying learning / training needs.
