Trainee or Qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) - 37.5hrs pw

Oncology Department

Band 7 (Trainee) / 8A (Qualified ACP)

Are you an experienced oncology practitioner who has completed their ACP qualifications looking for a new opportunity to apply your skills? or are you looking for an opportunity to gain an advanced practice qualification within oncology as a Band 7 with promotion to Band 8a once qualified ?

If the answer is yes, then an exciting new opportunity awaits you at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHPNT) tojointhe oncology team

You will become a core team member of the lung oncology team which includes three oncology consultants, cancer nurse specialists and team secretary and rotating oncology registrars. You will work closely with additional supporting teams including the enhanced supportive and palliative care teams, colorectal MDT co-ordinators and MDT members, and the Macmillan Mustard Tree staff.

The main focus of the post will be the provision of outpatient care, including patient assessment on systemic anticancer treatments and following radiotherapy, including making decisions regarding continuation of cancer treatment, adjustment to systemic treatments to manage untoward effects, discussing results of re-staging investigation and relevant blood tests, examining patients when required and requesting follow up investigations in line with established practice.

You will have opportunities to use and broaden your clinical skills, knowledge and experience and work collaboratively with the teams in outpatients to manage patients with lung cancer embarking on curative, neo-adjuvant or palliative treatments with support and mentoring from our consultant team.

We are looking for a credible, professional and dynamic experienced oncology practitioner. The successful applicant will be a team player who enjoys working at the top of their clinical competency and who recognises the value of education, support and development within the work place.

If successful at interview for the training post, the post holder will undertake the training within the University of Plymouth and be expected to complete the training in 3-4years. A Band 8a role is conditional on achieving the qualification and competencies.

There’s no doubt that this is a demanding role working in a very fast paced environment, however for the right individual, this would be a very rewarding role and one which you could really make your own.

ANNEX 21

For those successful candidates who are appointed who are currently working towards the Qualification or willing to undertake this qualification, you will be appointed as a trainee Band 7 under Annex 21 during the training period, Once this qualification /competencies attained, you will move onto the Band 8a pay scale.
