An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6 month secondment / fixed term contract as a Safeguarding Facilitator within the Safeguarding Team. If you are looking for a new challenge and chance to develop specialist safeguarding practice in a supportive setting this could be the ideal opportunity for you. We are looking for a qualified and experienced nurse, therapist or a social worker with excellent clinical/practice skills, used to working in a multi-disciplinary context.

The successful candidate will be supported to deliver a Think Family approach to safeguarding, which will include delivery of Safeguarding training programmes, advice and support to staff across the organisation, which will require you to develop close working relationships with members of the safeguarding children’s team also. You will work in collaboration with staff across the Trust and other agencies in order to keep adults safe.

This role embraces the vision that the experience gained by the successful candidate will then be translated back into their practice area. The team culture is one where learning and reflective practice are valued with regular group and individual supervision in place to support this. You will be fully supported to make the transition to this role and to develop your knowledge and skills in this exciting and important area of work.

Please note although this posts office base is in Southampton there is a requirement to work regularly across Hampshire and IOW to meet the safeguarding requirements of our organisation.

The Safeguarding team are part of the Chief Nurse Directorate and provides expert advice, support and training on both Children’s and Adults safeguarding legislation, practice, systems and processes. In addition to the Head of Safeguarding the team is made up of a Named Nurse for Children’s Safeguarding, Lead Nurse for Adult Safeguarding, a team of specialist Children’s safeguarding practitioners, Adult and Children safeguarding facilitators and a team of administration support.

Working closely with the Lead Nurse, the post holder will facilitate good practice in the prevention, identification, actioning and management of adult at risk cases when actual or suspected abuse has occurred. The post holder will offer advice and support to frontline practitioners and contribute to the development and delivery of specialist safeguarding training.
