The Trust will support you in this duty by providing ongoing training, support and advice and have a Corporate Safeguarding Team who can be contacted for guidance and the provision of safeguarding supervision.


An opportunity has arisen for 5 Respiratory Mask Face Fitters to join the Trust. As a successful candidate you will be responsible for fit testing to ensure that respirators fit the face of an individual to provide protection against harmful pathogens.

You will inform and promote practical procedures, such as RPE donning and doffing, to all levels of staff. The post holder will ensure timely completion of the fit testing records onto a centralised database to enable an oversight of overall testing compliance with a service breakdown of which staff require testing and the masks involved.

Participate in the evaluation of face masks and Fit Testing equipment used within the Trust, to give constructive feedback about product suitability to ensure the trust Complies with the health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines.

Promote infection prevention activity and undertake a range of observations and checks in clinical areas. This includes promoting social distancing, mask usage and hand hygiene around the hospital site and appropriately addressing areas of non-compliance

Duties will include;

• To follow the Fit Testing administration and booking process. Collecting, recording and storing audit data and undertaking a range of administrative tasks.

• Undertake fit tests for a variety of close fitting RPE, using quantitative or qualitative testing methods. Monitor fit testing requirements and support as required.

• Maintain good record keeping to track fit tested staff across all services.

• Maintain stock levels required to maintain the Fit Testing trust wide schedule in liaison with the procurement.

• Ensure Porta count Machine or Hood and solution bottles are operating correctly reporting any issues.

• Actively problem solve Fit Testing issues related to staff Fit Tests to ensure best practice

• Assist in the collection of statistical information for analysis purposes on a regular basis.

• Being responsible for any data to which you have access and/or are required to transfer. All data must be kept securely and in line with the Trust’s policies and procedures and you must comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and with common law on confidentiality.

You must have the ability to work closely with all levels of management. We are looking for someone that has experience of working within a professional team.

As a team player, you’ll be able to prioritise your work in order to meet deadlines and have a customer focused approach. Previous experience of working within a team or the NHS is desirable but not essential.
