Saint Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) has been delivering services to people who have experienced sexual violence since 1986. The Children’s SARC was established in 2006 to provide forensic medical and therapeutic medical assessment, support and therapy services to young victims and their families.

We are looking for a dynamic Counselling Service Lead to oversee and manage our counselling service. This post offers the successful applicant the unique opportunity of designing and delivering high quality support and therapeutic services for children and adults who have experienced sexual violence.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, resourceful individual with a desire to support victims of sexual crime who require our services and to assist in enabling them to reach their full potential by providing essential care at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

You will be part of an experienced multidisciplinary team including forensic physicians, therapists, crisis workers, adult ISVAs, Children and Young Peoples ISVAs who work together to provide high quality responsive services.

You will have the opportunity of being a part of a SARC team with a national and international reputation for first class sexual assault services, innovation and development.

You will have experience of working in a health or social care setting with experience of working in a challenging environment. You will demonstrate resilience and an ability to prioritise and manage workloads.

It is essential that you have some previous experience of managing waiting lists, workloads and a team of counsellors. It would be desirable if this experience was gained in health care setting.


The post is full time (37.5 hours per week), although consideration will be made to applications for part time working/job share.
