Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner – Emergency Department CXH ICHT credentialed, or working towards credentialing

Open to nurses and paramedics with an MSc in Advanced Practice

Experience of clinical practice as an independent practitioner in an ED/WIC/UTC type setting is essential to be eligible to apply. Emergency Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner qualification is desirable

The Emergency Directorate at ICHT has set out a clear workforce strategy which includes the development of an Advanced Clinical Practitioner workforce. We want to build on the success of the ACP role in our ambulatory emergency care service and extend the team into the Emergency department. Led by 2 ED /UTC Consultant nurses in collaboration with the ED consultant team.

RCEM launched its ACP curriculum in 2015; aspiring ACPs now have a clear and defined portfolio of practice to support their development and progress to credentialing by the RCEM.

  • Assigned consultant educational/clinical supervisor
  • Structured approach on a roster basis to working across the emergency floor
  • Trust support to develop your procedural skills as set out in the curriculum
  • Clinical placements to support your clinical development and fulfil the requirements of the curriculum in:
    • Acute Medicine
    • Critical Care
    • Anesthetics
  • 90/10 (clinical/non-clinical) role to ensure you have consistent non-clinical time to support non-clinical activity as required by the RCEM curriculum. Such as; audit, educational supervision meetings, attending governance meetings and development of new pathways of care

The Urgent & Emergency Care Directorate sits within the Medicine & integrated care Division at Imperial Healthcare Trust, and consists of;

St Marys- Emergency/Major Trauma Centre Adult and Paediatric & Same Day Emergency Care

Charing Cross – Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centre & Ambulatory Emergency Care

Hammersmith Hospital- Urgent Treatment Centre

The Urgent & Emergency Care team are a collaborative, progressive, multidisciplinary team providing expert care, education, and support to patients with complex needs within the most acute phase of their care. As such the post holder must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients and their relatives.
