Community Interventions Pathway (West Shropshire)

Band 7

1 Post 37.5 hrs per week. Permanent

We are looking to recruit a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with EMDR training to work within the Community Interventions Pathway in West Shropshire. The post will be based in Shrewsbury but you will be expected to work across the West of the County as needs arise (Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Ludlow).

 

The Community Interventions Pathway is one of a number of clinical pathways within the Shropshire Care group which, in addition to meeting service user needs, allows development of skills within the specialism.

 

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic psychologist/ CBT Therapist to join the Community Interventions Pathway team in West Shropshire. We provide secondary mental health care to a large population including Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Ludlow and surrounding areas. Local mental health services include a single point of Access team, a Crisis and Home Treatment team as well as a Psychosis pathway and an Intensive Life skills pathway.

Multi-disciplinary team working is central to the role. We are establishing a formulation led programme of interventions including CBT informed psychoeducational group interventions as well as individual work. You will be involved in providing teaching, supervision and consultation to other team members as well as working directly with service users and their families.

Applicants should have previous experience of working in mental health teams in the NHS and knowledge and skills in working with people who present with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.

Applicants should be qualified in Clinical or Counselling psychology.

You will be well supported, with regular supervision from a senior psychologist within the pathway. You will work closely with other psychologists who use a range of approaches including CAT, CBT, and EMDR, systemic and psychodynamically informed work. We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology Doctorate course at Stafford University and the Counselling Psychology Doctorate course at Wolverhampton University and regularly offer trainee placements.

Travel will be required as a part of this role across the service locality (Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Ludlow).
