Since carrying out the UK’s first successful heart transplant in 1979, the hospital now performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants each year than any other UK centre.

In addition to transplantation, Royal Papworth Hospital has the UK’s largest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre (RSSC) and is one of five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) to patients experiencing severe respiratory failure. It is also the only centre in the UK for a number of specialist services including Pulmonary Endarterectomy and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

Band 6 Specialist Rotational Physiotherapist
£32,306 – £39,027 per annum

Due to recent expansion within the service, we are looking for Band 6 or experienced Band 5 Physio’s who have worked in acute care across multiple specialities, have a passion for Respiratory care and are motivated to learn and progress.

Candidates will have a BSc, MSc or graduate diploma in Physiotherapy and be HCPC registered. In addition, great communication and interpersonal skills are essential alongside ambodiment of our trust values: compassion, excellence and collaboration.

Join our supportive, dynamic and growing Physiotherapy team in our internationally renowned Cardiothoracic Hospital at Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

You will be supported by Team Leaders and Deputy Team Leaders across Critical Care, Cystic Fibrosis, Respiratory Support and Sleep studies, Cardiothoracic surgery, Cardiology and Medical Unit rotations to develop core Respiratory assessment and treatment skills.

Become part of our innovative team covering inpatient and outpatient services including our on call, twilight and weekend working provision.

  • Ø Regular one to ones, clinical supervision, appraisals and competency support
  • Ø In house courses and access to external courses and conferences
  • Ø Involvement with expert multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ø Advanced skill teaching and support including ECMO rehab, ventricular assist devices, Nebulised drug challenges, tracheostomy weaning and decannulation.
  • Ø Opportunity for Service development projects and involvement with audits
  • Ø Participation in research.
  • Support and guidance for you to mentor students and junior staff.
