The Leicestershire, Northampton & Rutland (LNR) genomic medicine service is very pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join our expanding and developing service for a 6 month period (fixed contract) as Genomic Nurse Practitioner/Genomics Practitioner. This position would be ideal for band 6 registered nurse, or equivalent practitioner with experience in genetics.

The LNR Genomic Medicine Service is allied with the East Genomic Medical Alliance and provides high quality paediatric and adult Genomics Services at regional specialist level to the population of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland, We run diverse clinics covering all aspects of genomic medicine; providing genetic counselling, testing, diagnosis and management to the diverse regional population, supporting families with genetic rare disease and cancer predisposition.

This position will support high quality and timely clinical assessment of patients referred to the genomics team, by gathering medical and family history information from patients, families and medical services, in preparation for appointment. The post requires autonomous working, day to day responsibility for the "family history process", good organisational skills, a sensitive approach to patient care and an understanding of genetic conditions and how they may affect individuals and their families both medically and emotionally. This position will suit an individual who is equally able to work well to manage time sensitive processes within an administrative setting, but also enjoys working directly with patients on the phone/in clinic within the wider clinical team of medics and genetic counsellors.
