An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Department (ED) of Imperial College Healthcare at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. We are looking to recruit Band 6 Sisters to our enthusiastic and energetic Emergency Department team. We are looking for nurses with ED or acute ward experience who want to further their career in a fast paced, lively and renowned department.

As West London’s Major Trauma Centre (MTC), St. Mary’s receives the highest number of trauma calls of all the four London MTC’s brought in by the London Ambulance Service. The adult and paediatric departments see in excess of 125,000 patients a year. With resuscitation, majors, and ambulatory assessment areas, the Department is supported by a 40 bed admission unit.

We are avid supporters of our whole nursing team and recognise the contribution, motivation and competencies that our Band 6 team bring to every shift. We also support individuals to improve and develop their leadership and management skills, encouraging them to be fully rounded nurses who bring a large range of skills to our patients’ bedsides from a broad portfolio of experience. We encourage internal rotations based solely on individual aspirations as well as supporting staff through every step of their emergency care career pathway. We see the importance in providing the highest standard of care to our patients and therefore encourage our team to take up the opportunities of learning advanced skills, completing the Advanced Life Support course, as well as the Trauma Nursing Core course and our Emergency Capital Nurse course accredited by King’s College London. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in all areas of the department, supported by the band 7 team.

Applicants will need to demonstrate a dynamic, hardworking, and passionate approach to delivering high quality patient care, setting an example to our junior staff.

Never before have we, felt so keenly the contribution we make to our community, and the wellbeing of our team has never been more prominent. We have therefore established a team of senior nurses, consultants, therapists and resources to provide the help, advice and guidance to our staff to ensure their wellbeing not only now but in the future.

As part of our continued response to COVID19 we are conducting the majority of our interviews virtually with limited face to face interviews. We require candidates to have the camera on during the interview. If you have been shortlisted and wish to have a face to face interview at one of our Trust locations please request this to the Recruiting Manager and we will do our best to facilitate your request, however this may not always be achievable.
