An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Assessment & Access Clinical Service Unit for a Salaried General Practitioner to join the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) team.

The UTC is co-located within the MRI adult Emergency Department. Formerly established as the Manchester Walk in Centre (WIC), the unit is a newly established service, providing same day assessment and treatment for patients who present with a minor illness and / or injury. The team comprises of a Nurse Consultant, (Advanced) Nurse Practitioners, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Extended Scope Physiotherapists, with medical cover from GPs. In addition, the team works very closely with the Emergency Department, secondary care, Social Services, Mental Health and other specialist services.

The Salaried General Practitioner will be a key member of the Emergency Assessment and Access services in Central Manchester providing primary medical services to patients who either self-refer or are referred to the service from ED, 111 or other health care providers.

Each practitioner will be required to provide primary medical services to the patients within the unit. The role will be supported by the multidisciplinary team (MDT) . The post holder will work closely with the (MDT) to proactively manage and anticipate future health needs for patients, developing appropriate care plans with a major focus on delivering high quality patient focused care.

The post holder will also contribute to the planning and development of Primary Care Service, participating in decision making and audit and to ensure the service remains at the forefront of an innovative health and social care service.

The post holder will work either a long day (09:00-22:00) or half day (09:00-15:00 or 15:00-22:00). Monday - Sunday sessions available.
