We are looking for passionate practitioners for our client and NHS Trust which will allow the successful candidates to gain valuable experience within a variety of Mental health / community areas.

Our client provide mental health and learning disability services to people across Greater Manchester. - Serving a population of 1.3 million and our vision is a happier and more hopeful life for everyone in our communities.

More than 4,000 dedicated and skilled staff deliver care from around 200 different locations in five boroughs:

  • Bury, Oldham and Rochdale- mental health and learning disability services for children and adults
  • Tameside and Glossop– children and adult mental health and learning disability services, health improvement.
  • Stockport– mental health and learning disability services for children and adults

Their mental health teams provide care and treatment for people with mild to moderate conditions such as depression, anxiety or dementia, or more serious mental health illnesses such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder.

The Role

We are looking for candidates that can undertake the following:

  • Practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Assess patients wellbeing and related needs.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate programs of care.
  • Be a named nurse and be responsible for care coordination and delivery of care programs for patients on caseload.
  • Monitor the wellbeing of patients and contribute to protecting individuals whose health and well being is at risk in accordance with local policies eg observation policy, risk management policy.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with the multi disciplinary team, service users and carers, about programs of care and routine and daily activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the data protection act and professional code of conduct.
  • Involve service users, carers and relatives wherever feasible throughout episodes of care, offering choices at every opportunity.
  • Be conversant with, and practice within, the 1983 Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, including the receipt of section papers.
  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with local policies.
  • Monitor and maintain health, safety, and security of self and others in own work area as identified in local policies.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, e.g. clinical audit, essence of care.
  • Take an active part in developing knowledge ideas and to support evidence based practice.
  • Regularly take charge of the ward, taking responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of deputy/ward manager.
  • Delegate and supervise the work of junior team members as appropriate to level of ability.
  • Contribute to the development of junior members of staff and students, promoting an environment conducive to learning.
  • Participate in regular management and supervision from ward manager/deputy ward manager.
  • Participate in regular individual performance review (IPRs) and in the production of a personal development plan.
  • Attend training courses that are mandatory, indicated in personal development plans or required by the needs of the service.

To apply for this post, we are looking for candidates who have one of the following:

  • NMC Registered
  • Experience of providing management and clinical supervision to junior staff.
  • Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs.
  • An awareness of current initiatives within adult mental health services
  • Evidence of the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Currently studying Adult Mental Health Nursing (Student Nurse) and completed a minimum of 12 weeks clinical placement.
  • MUST be PMVA trained
