An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and forward-thinking Health Care Support Worker to join our Special School Nursing team. As part of Solent NHS Trust’s Community Children’s Nursing Service within the West locality, we provide Specialist School Nursing to eight Special Schools across the Southampton, Hampshire and Isle of Wight area and we are looking to recruit to a vacancy based at St Francis School, Fareham.

St Francis School caters for approximately 105 children and young people who have complex health needs and learning difficulties aged three to nineteen. The school is situated within Fareham, includes 6th form for post 16 students and Early Years. The school focuses on being a happy and caring community where all pupils and students are valued equally.

The Special School Nursing team works collaboratively with children, families, carers, school staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team within the education setting to ensure a supportive and caring learning environment.

If you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work as a team player, as well as the initiative to work autonomously, we would like to hear from you. You should have good organisational skills and evidence of continued professional development.

The candidate must have experience of working with children and preferably have experience of learning disabilities. Previous experience of special school nursing would be desirable.

The role is for 22.5 hrs a week term time only and requires the successful applicant to work over 4 or 5 days working core school hours.
