We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible registered Learning Disability Nurse to join our integrated sexual health service. You must be willing to undertake additional training and achieve competencies in SRH and GUM to enable you to work clinically and support clinical staff to ensure the needs of clients with Learning disabilities are met within the sexual health services.

Our specialist services support individuals to make informed choices about their sexual health, provide screening,diagnosis,and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.HIV care, provision and ongoing management of PrEP and PEPSE, contraception including emergency contraception, vasectomy,sexual health promotion,sexualhealth advising, psychosexual counselling and an outreach service.We also offer a range of specialist sexual health clinics for clients with an identified need or vulnerability. The service offers online screening and an advice and signposting telephone line in addition to appointments. Patients are often able to receive a diagnosis, treatment, and a plan for follow up care in one appointment

The service works in partnership with GPs, social care, nurse specialists and midwives, unplanned pregnancy service and specialist young persons’servicesto provide the best care possible for our patients.

This role would suit either an experienced Band 6 LD Nurse looking to further their skill set and bring with them their knowledge and experience within the field of LD or a newly qualified Band 5 LD nurse who will be supported through the preceptorship programme and become a trainee sexual health nurse. Your role will include:
Assessing individual client needs and providingadvice on Sexual Health within a variety of settings, as directed by the management team.

Supporting clients with a Learning Disability or Learning Need to access service.

Supporting staff in meeting the needs of clients with a learning disability or learning need.

The provision of appropriate information to Service Users and their carers around sexual healthcare needs.

You will be based atone of the main hubswith the expectation to travel across sites in Southampton, Portsmouth, Southwest Hampshire, North Hampshire and the IOW; therefore a full UK driving license and car are essential. Mileage rates will apply when travelling to other sites.
