Business Manager – Strategy and Transformation North West

[Band 7- Secondment/Fixed Term until 31/03/22 with possible extension]

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and motivated individual to join the Strategy & Transformation directorate in the North West as the Regional Business Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for personal development in a fast paced and politically sensitive environment.

The role will be on a Secondment / Fixed Term basis until 31st March 2022, with possible extension.

Please note that the reason for the fixed term of your contract is this is a short term vacancy.

The Business Manager provides direct support to the Director of Strategy and Transformation, assisting Senior Managers across the directorate to achieve organisational objectives.

Skills and experience

The successful candidate will need to be able to work quickly and independently in what can be a very faced paced and rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong governance background
  • The ability to work independently
  • Excellent planning, organisational and presentation skills
  • The ability to prioritise their workload to meet deadlines
  • Leadership skills
  • The ability to solve problems and support others to do so
  • Work well with others to achieve organisational objectives
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with senior leaders across the system

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Direct Business Management Support to the Regional Director of Strategy and Transformation and their Senior Team
  • Preparing and presenting reports
  • Managing risks and issues, ensuring appropriate mitigations and escalation are in place
  • Directly managing the Secretariat Team and supporting them to achieve organisational objectives, encouraging personal development
  • Project/Programme Management, including preparing and monitoring project plans, and preparing progress updates
  • Preparing and managing the Directorate Business Plan
  • Oversight of the Directorate Business Continuity arrangements
  • Co-ordinating HR on behalf of the directorate, including recruitment processes and preparation of business cases
  • Management of Directorate Budgets
  • Co-ordinating communications to ensure Directorate staff are appraised with the latest information, policies and guidance
