Band 6 : Staff Nurse – Pre-Operative Assessment

Pre-Operative Assessment: Need a change or a new challenge?? If so for the right candidate, Imperial has an exciting opportunity for you to become part of the established nursing team in our Elective Surgery Pre-Operative Assessment Unit

Are you committed to providing excellent patient care in a busy, fast paced environment? Do you have desire and passion to influence a patient’s surgical journey right from the start?

We have band 6 vacancy working across all three sites, which have differing patient populations therefore presents differing exposures and experience. Pre-Operative Assessment is currently conducted via telephone, video and face-to-face appointments. Anatomy and Physiology systems knowledge and accurate nursing assessment of these is paramount and an essential part of this role. Though you would be part of a wider team, on a day-to-day basis you will work autonomously making independent decisions as to a patients fitness for anesthetic, and be responsible for appropriate referrals both internal and external. The Unit functions closely with the Patient Service Centre, Admissions and Discharge Lounge and a Team of Anesthetists.

Staff are supported with their post registration requirements and to develop their career pathway, with plenty of opportunities for further study. We can offer you support in developing your skills as you advance in your career including 1:2:1 coaching and regular in-house training programs.

The Pre-Operative Assessment is within the Surgery, Cancer and Cardiovascular Division at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the largest acute Trusts in the country and in partnership with imperial college London is one of the UK 's first academic health science centres (AHSCs). The creation of the AHSC is a major advance for patient care, clinical teaching and scientific invention and innovation.
