37.5 Hours per week

The NHS provides healthcare to patients across the country, including GP surgeries, hospital care, care in the community and specialist care. Solent NHS Trust is a community and mental health Trust and provides care in the community across Hampshire and care in St James and St Marys hospitals in Portsmouth and the Western hospital in Southampton.

An exciting apprenticeship opportunity is available with the Finance Team for a Data Entry Clerk. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting out in their career in finance and you will be provided with numerous development opportunities along with invaluable experience, insight and understanding of finance within the NHS. The role will support the study towards the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification, an extremely well recognised finance qualification. The experienced gained through this role will be very attractive to future employers and will leave the Apprentice with an excellent understanding of operational finance within the NHS.

The Financial Services team manages the Finance and Accounting service provided by NHS Shared Business Services in relation to accounts payable, accounts receivable, elements of payroll, system access and approval hierarchies. We are also responsible for the national agreement of balances exercise which is mandatory twice per year.

We work with and support the wider finance team along with all clinical services, NHS Shared Business Services, internal and external audit.

You will have your English and Maths GCSE’s or equivalent and some experience of financial or clerical work is desirable, We'd like you to have a real desire to work in finance. You will be confident in the use of information technology, particularly Microsoft Office & Excel, have clear and accurate written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
