Applications are invited for the position of Healthcare Support Worker for the Community Paediatric Medical Service where we cover locations including Portsmouth City, Havant and Fareham & Gosport.

The Community Paediatric Medical Service offers a specialist service for children and young people with a range of developmental needs, including physical and or learning disabilities. This includes detailed medical assessments, investigations, diagnosis, treatment or interventions according to need.

The service is mainly delivered in community clinics, but children may also be seen in special schools and occasionally in a hospital setting.

In the role, you can expect to assist in clinics where children of varying abilities and needs are assessed and to assist in assessments as requested by the Paediatrician. (training will be provided to carry out relevant assessments i.e. Schedule of Growing Skills). You will be responsible for the preparation of clinics, to include clinic files, replenishing stocks, tidying clinic rooms, ensuring toys and equipment are in good working order and that Infection Control guidelines are followed for the disinfections and cleaning of used equipment.

The role requires attention to detail using the Electronic Patient Records System accurately and other administration tasks along with plenty of direct clinical contact with patients and their carers. An ability to work well as part of a team and be able to adapt to change within a busy environment is vital. Training will be provided where required along with regular supervision and support.
