There has never been a more exciting time to start out in your dietetic career in Cystic Fibrosis! 2020 saw the advent of new modulating therapies that are changing the nutritional profile of patients with CF, and the role of the dietitian.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HCPC registered dietitian to join our team within the Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre (MACFC). You will be an integral member of the team consisting of a Lead Dietitian, 2 Senior Specialist CF Dietitians and 4 Specialist CF Dietitians. The team sits independent to the main dietetic department within the MACFC. The MACFC cares for 450 adults with cystic fibrosis who live in the North West region of the UK, providing a high quality patient focused service, with a national and international reputation for research in cystic fibrosis care.

This role provides a wonderful opportunity to develop clinical and professional skills working as a key member of a highly specialised multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with a team consisting of physiotherapists, specialist nurses, doctors, psychologists, pharmacists and social workers. The MACFC is located in a purpose built facility comprising of a 22 bedded inpatient ward and a multidisciplinary outpatient assessment unit. The Centre has a strong commitment to the development of both patient services and staff. The dietetic team provides care to CF inpatients, outpatients and those requiring home enteral feeding.

Enthusiasm and a keen interest in cystic fibrosis are vital. You will be working with adults who have complex nutritional issues, requiring skilled nutritional assessment and advice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate through different areas of CF services including homecare, inpatients, outpatients and diabetes with support from the senior specialist dietitian. You will gain knowledge and experience in a diverse range of CF related conditions such as gastrointestinal dysfunction, diabetes, liver disease and osteoporosis. Previous clinical experience in nutritional support, weight management and diabetes are highly desirable. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate effective communication, a flexible attitude and an ability to prioritise and manage a busy complex caseload. Excellent personal and team working skills are essential.

We are a forward thinking, innovative team committed to continuous professional development. We are currently involved in a multicentre observational study and are developing digital resources to enhance patient experience as part of the Innovators of our Future programme. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved with these exciting projects. You will be encouraged to participate in service evaluation and development, working as part of the MDT to develop and deliver evidence-based care and training.
