TheHill is looking for a Digital Innovation Manager to lead on the ongoing design and implementation of our pipeline of opportunities for OUH. This role is central to our core objective, getting digital innovation into the Trust, and requires a high degree of knowledge and personal judgement as well as the ability to design and operate the pipeline process and communicate well with a range of stakeholders. Activities include managing the pipeline process, including triage meetings and the Innovation Panel, managing and reporting on the selection of individual innovations, direct support to innovation projects and supervision of others’ work project managing specific innovations.


Success will be measured by the number of innovations adopted into OUH, the number of trials started or projects at different stages of the pipeline, as well as the robustness and maturity of the process and the strength of relationships across the Trust.


The Digital Innovation Manager will work closely with staff across the whole team . The role reports to the Director, and line manages the Digital Innovations Officer (shared line management), with the possibility of further line management of project officers/project managers in future as the team grows. The Digital Innovation Manager will also be expected to work closely with a range of colleagues internally and externally and maintain those relationships for the team.

The ideal candidate will understand the innovation process and be able to take a professional judgement on the viability of ideas at all stages in the pipeline. They will also feel comfortable sourcing opinions from multiple people, dealing with complex requirements and considering multiple factors in the selection process. Experience of both the NHS, including change management, and start-up companies would be a great asset in this role, as would knowledge of digital technologies. The ideal candidate will feel comfortable working in a collaborative, creative and flexible environment to enable TheHill to foster new opportunities, whilst also being aware of the governance and policy requirements of a larger organisation.


The role is aOX3 temporary placement starting ASAP until 4th April 2022. You will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital (Headley Way, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU).


The working pattern is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with some flexibility.

This is a Band 8a role paying £23.40 p/h.

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who has excellent MS Office knowledge (essential)
  • Experience in project/process management
  • NHS experience (preferred)
  • Experience of digital innovation from early stage development
    • Experience of corporate relationship management or partnerships management
    • Experience writing business cases and budgets
    • Numerate
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strategic thinker!
    • Proactive- can do attitude
    • Able to remain calm under pressure
