The Role:

We are looking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated clinical psychologist to work within the Mental Health & Psychosocial Substance Misuse Services in HMP YOI prison Brinsford. This role will involve working with young men aged between 18-25 years old. As such, this post offers exciting opportunities to make a difference to the lives of individuals on remand or serving a sentence in young adult male prison, as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in collaboration with other multi-agency colleagues.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to use their clinical and consultation skills, as well as deliver training to peers and the wider establishment and support the development of intervention programs. We are looking for an HCPC registered clinical psychologist with some experience in the criminal justice system and who has worked with young people with individuals with mental ill health and/or mental disorder. Integral to the role is the opportunity to develop your skills in offering professional consultation to the multi-disciplinary team, leading on the delivery of in-house training in relation to psychological concepts / psychological ways of working, and support the training programme to colleagues in the wider prison estate.

The successful applicant will have the ability to positively engage service users in the interventions we provide and review our service to bring about change, which is reflective of service user feedback and evidence based practice. You will have experience of delivering psychological assessments and interventions for those experiencing mental ill health and substance misuse. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have trained in or have experience in delivering evidence-based psychological therapies (e.g. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).

The trust promotes and expects a high standard of supervision so you will have the opportunity to establish and deliver reflective practice within your teams. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use and develop their clinical and leadership skills, and as part of the role will have responsibility for supervising Assistant Psychologists to deliver both 1:1 and group interventions.

Peer support is given high-priority within Inclusion and you will be joining the supportive and growing Inclusion psychology team who meet regularly to explore professional issues, as well as collaborate on research and development projects. We will support you to access regular clinical supervision and appropriate professional development.

Why you should apply:
