Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust was formed in October 2019, following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.


Hours per week – 37.5

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one fixed term contract for 9 months for a Health Care Assistant to work in the Lydney District Nursing team, South of Forest Integrated Community Team (ICT).

The team provide high quality care to people in their own homes. You will be based with a Community Nursing Team which in turn is part of the wider Integrated Team incorporating OT’s, Physios, and Reablement staff with links to our Social Care colleagues.

To work as part of the team you will need to have:

  • a good general standard of education with at least two years experience in providing health or social care.
  • NVQ level 3 in a Health or Social Care related subject or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through work experience
  • proven ability to work efficiently, effectively & autonomously with supervision
  • have good communication skills (verbal & written) & good IT skills
  • A major part of the role is to undertake venepuncture so experience with this skill would be advantageous.
  • The ability to travel throughout the locality is essential.

The Community Nursing Service is seven days a week comprising Early shifts (8.00am – 4.00pm); late shifts (12.00 pm – 8.00pm) and a new trial shift for HCAs (10am to 6pm) and a rolling weekend rota where you would work one weekend in every four (2 early shifts).

As a Health Care Assistant/ Support Worker you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care / services to patients and service users as part of a Mental Health and Social Care Health Service. Health Care Assistant, Social Care Workers and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard, and to challenge others who are not. You will receive direct supervision and partake in reflective practice / training on a regular basis and be required to meet the Care Certificate standards.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
