Job Summary

We are looking for an advanced podiatrist with the ability to demonstrate a high level of expertise and knowledge in MSK podiatry practice. You will have knowledge and interest across a range of areas of MSK podiatry including acute and chronic of msk presentations, rheumatology and offloading the at-risk foot. You should have a proven track record of clinical experience and CPD in these areas.

Solent NHS Podiatry services cover a large geographic area and is divided into a West locality in Southampton covering approximately 15 sites from the New Forest and across Southampton city centre to the east of the city. The East locality stretches from Fareham across Portsmouth to the Petersfield borders. The position is based across both localities. Due to the rural geographical locations of our locality any applicant must have access to appropriate transport. We have 2 key multi-chair sites at the Adelaide Health Centre in Southampton and the St Marys Hospital Campus in Portsmouth.

Our team meets regularly where we receive training and share ideas and developments for the service. We pride ourselves on being a supportive team where we encourage each other, provide advice and support in ensuring we deliver optimal patient care. This is achieved by minimizing lone working, regular peer review and action learning sets.

We encourage the team to continue to develop and build knowledge, several team members are enrolled on masters programmes or modules.

Solent NHS Trust is situated in a vibrant part of the country with access to the city and the beautiful coast and countryside. There are good access and links to the local airports. We have strong links with Southampton University and are key in providing clinical learning for the BSC Podiatry undergraduate clinical placements

Job Responsibilities

  • Assessment and treatment of range of lower limb msk conditions including those with long term conditions
  • Working alongside the hospital rheumatology team
  • Service developement
  • Training of team members and students

Personal Skills/Qualities

  • You will need good communication skills, be a team player, demonstrate a flexible approach to a busy caseload
  • Have strong clinical reasoning and leadership skills to ensure our service is evidence based and delivered to a high standard.
  • Be committed to supporting team members and students in their learning and development
