RESPIRATORY OUT-PATIENT DEPARTMENT - EXPERIENCED BAND 5 REGISTERED NURSE

Are you interested in Respiratory Medicine? Are you looking for something completely different? Would you like to further develop your skills in leadership and management?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, confident registered nurse to join our friendly and well established respiratory team.

The respiratory department runs many different clinics, to name a few bronchiectasis, lung cancer, TB, pleural and severe asthma so you will have the opportunity to take care of patients with a wide variety of respiratory conditions.

Support and orientation to out-patients will be provided as part of your induction.

This job vacancy is for 30 hours a week, days and hours negotiable.

Some roles and responsibilities of the out-patient RN include:

  • Working in the clinical area alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the smooth flow of clinics which requires excellent communication skills, time-keeping and problems solving skills.
  • Leadership and management of junior staff, dealing with and managing complaints, plan and organise the out-patient department.
  • To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.
  • Managing and taking care of acutely unwell patients in an out-patient setting and facilitating prompt transfers if required.
  • Clinical skills to be acquired whilst in post, arterial blood gas sampling, venepuncture, cannulation, assisting with pleural procedures, set up and teaching of nebulised antibiotics, assisting with PICC/mid lines insertion and removal, mantoux tests and inhaler techniques (not an exhaustive list).

Please note – this vacancy is not suitable for Overseas Registered Nurses required to take the OSCE exam
